“Damn pants. Can you help me?” she asked.

Her gritted teeth and squinty eyes spoke of frustration, and she couldn’t have looked any sexier. “Sure thing.”

Stepping away, Cord ditched his shoes, socks, and pants in record time. He figured she’d want to take off his shirt and briefs since undressing him turned her on, or so she’d said. Thankfully, the furrowed brows disappeared the second he kicked his clothes to the side.

“Much better. I’m not sure if I want to start at the top or the bottom.” She rubbed her chin as if she really was trying to figure it out, but the sparkle in her eyes told him she just wanted to torture him.

“How about I take off your top, and then you take off my shirt?” he asked. This would be a shortened version of strip poker, only without the cards.

“Okay, but I get to go first,” she said with a glint in her eyes that told him he was in trouble now.

As Piper slid her hands under his T-shirt, she scraped her nails up his chest, and his hair sprouted. Damn. Flattening her hands, she dragged her palms over his pecs and squeezed, leaving a trail of heat. “You gonna take off the shirt?” he asked. “I need you bad.”

“That’s my plan.” She lifted her chin, and he nabbed her lips again.

This time, their exploration was slow and deep, but it only served to make him ache for her more. Not able to wait, Cord lifted his shirt and stepped out of his briefs. Piper planted her hands on her hips and opened her mouth. “Is there a problem?” he asked. “I couldn’t help undressing. I’m at the end of my rope.” There was little apology in his voice.

“Men.”

“As a man, I need to get my woman naked.” She darted out of his grasp and then jumped on the black leather lounge chair. “You can’t run or hide from me, baby.” He strode toward her.

“I’m not trying to. I know you. You would have stripped me in front of the window.”

He saw no problem with that. “No one can see you.”

“Doesn’t matter.”

He grabbed hold of her pants, and in one tug, whipped them off. Her panties slid down halfway. “You wore red for me. My favorite color.”

“I know.” She scooted back against the chair, but she wouldn’t be in that position long.

The panther inside him liked to stalk. Keeping his gaze on her face, he crawled onto the lounge chair and straddled her. “You’re in big trouble now.”

She laughed. “Why is that?”

“Because I need to love you hard and long.”

Piper stuck out her chest. “You can try.”

She always did know how to push his buttons. Thankfully, that long sleeve pullover was easy to remove, as were her panties. The moment her beautiful breasts were exposed, his animal began to claw his insides. The urge to savor what was underneath her bra warred with his bear side who wanted to have her right now.

Inhaling her clean linen scent, he slipped her bra straps down her shoulders, and with each inch, her eyelids partially closed. It was as if she’d been dreaming of this moment, and it was finally here.

His fingers trembled as the red material popped off each nipple. As much as he wanted to take his time, he couldn’t. “You are so beautiful.”

“If you want it, take it.”

She always was a sassy one. With a pinch in back, he unhooked the bra and tossed it to the side, his gaze never leaving his prize. “I hope you’re ready.”

***

Because her nipples were more sensitive than they had been in months, the first pluck had Piper reeling. Having Cord happy and full of life again was the best present she could ask for. She’d wanted to discuss the reason for his sudden change of attitude on the drive up, but she didn’t want to spoil their time together. This weekend was about rekindling what they had, and heaven only knew, her animalistic side needed it.

He pulled her nipple taut, sending spirals of delight across her body. Piper clasped his shoulders, experiencing the wonderful bulge in his muscles as he shifted his weight from one breast to the other.

His tongue was driving her closer to her climax, but she was determined to hold out so they could soar high together. Just as he dragged his sharpened teeth across the tip, he stopped and slid down between her legs. This was Piper’s weakness. One swipe and she’d be gone.

“I want to suck on your cock first.” He should be able to tell by the desperation in her voice that she was teetering on the edge.

He looked up at her with a hint of pain in his eyes. “You have ten seconds.”

“Is this a race?”

“I’m just telling you because that’s all the beasts inside me will last.”

She smiled. “Ten it is.”

As she scrambled to her knees, so did Cord. Most likely to speed things up, he grabbed his thick shaft and lowered it for her. She bent over and swatted his hands out of the way. With practiced precision, she engulfed his cock with one hand and cupped his balls with the other. Her husband was easy. A few well-placed licks and he’d be so desperate, he’d toss her down and impale her—just what she wanted and needed.

Pumping her fist fast and furious, he clamped down on her wrist. “Enough.”

Piper sat back on her heels. “Wimp.”

He growled. “I’ll show you wimp.”

Once he helped her stretch out, he climbed on top and kissed her with such passion that she thought her insides would melt. Wrapping her legs around his waist, she lifted up, coaxing him to enter.

Instead of driving into her, he lowered his lips to her jaw, down her chin then across to the sensitive spot between her neck and shoulder blade. It was where he often would bite her if their lovemaking became too intense.

What was he waiting for? “I need you, Cord.”

Piper hadn’t meant to sound so anxious, but the fact was that she was more desperate for her mate now than she’d ever been before.

“I need you more,” he whispered.

Cord eased his way into her so slowly; it was as if he thought she would break. Taking things into her own hands, she dug her heels into his back and basically forced his cock to drive into her.

His eyes widened, and then a broad smile lit up his face. “You want it rough, lady?”

There was the man she adored. “Only if you love me.”

“More than you can ever know.”

Her heart swelled. Desiring more control, she lowered her legs and planted her feet on the lounger. Cord clasped her hips and thrust into her, expanding her inner walls to the max and robbing her of her breath. His touch electrified her. Sparks sizzled up her spine, and Piper dragged his face to hers and kissed him, wanting to absorb all of his goodness.

As he pummeled into her, her worries floated away, and they became one—lovers for all time. He changed his angle a little and hit her clit, pushing her closer to her climax.

“Mine,” he whispered.

Cord returned to that sensitive spot on her neck, and when his sharp incisors touched her skin, her passion exploded. She grabbed his ass and squeezed. Just then, his teeth sank into her neck, and she couldn’t hold back anymore. A massive orgasm rolled in and claimed her hard. Stars burst on the back of her lids, and suddenly, she was floating, seeing the two of them romp in the field with their children behind them. It was only in her mind’s eye, but the wonder was still there.

As his hot seed poured into her, Cord groaned. It wouldn’t matter now, but he’d forgotten to wear a condom, just like he’d forgotten six weeks ago.

Her husband lowered his forehead to hers and rolled them over. “You never cease to amaze me. I swear you are more passionate and wonderful each time we make love.”

Piper lifted up on her elbows. “You trying to butter me up?”

“Me. Whatever for?”

All of Cord’s comments came rushing back about whether they should throw out the old baby clothes and then asking if she thought the kids would have more fun with another sibling. “Let’s clean up and then I’ll tell you.”

Realizing that Cord was yearning for another child helped wash away much of her anxiety. He withdrew and strutted into the kitchen for a towel. She could watch his naked body all day long.

When he returned, he wiped her down, tossed the towel onto the wood floor, and scooted next to her. “What do want to tell me?”

Piper rested her head on his chest and snuggled close. “I’ve been moody lately, and I want to apologize.”

Cord lifted her chin. “Are you kidding? I’m the one who’s been out of sorts.”

“Is that so? I know why I’ve been a bit cranky. What’s your excuse?”

He looked off to the side then back at her. “This probably isn’t a good time to bring this up, but I can’t get it out of my head.”

“Tell me.” His serious tone worried her.

Cord stabbed a hand over his hair. “It might sound crazy, but I was thinking how wonderful it would be to have another baby.”

Her pulse beat fast. “You do, do you? And who would take care of this child?”

Cord pulled her close and ran a knuckle down her cheek. “I was thinking we could hire someone to help clean the house and pick the kids up from daycare.”

“Really?” She hadn’t wanted to ask because they both worked hard for their money, and she didn’t want to dip into their savings that was earmarked for the kids.

“I’m deadly serious. What do you say?”

“I say yes.” The hugs and kisses that followed were wonderful and welcome, but she had to tell him everything. “Remember, you’re the one who suggested we hire help.”

His brows pinched. “Why is that?”

“Because in a little over seven months we’ll be adding to our brood.”

She swore it took Cord three seconds for the words to sink in. “You’re pregnant?”

Joy slammed into her. “I’m pregnant.”

He scooped her up and hugged her hard. “Why didn’t you tell me?”

“I didn’t know until two days ago, and I was waiting for the right moment.” His grin was wider than the expanse between here and the mountains.

“You’ve made me a happy man. Do we know if we’re having one or two?”

She groaned. “Don’t even think the word
twins
.”

He laughed. “I’ll be happy with whatever we have.”

Piper had to be the luckiest woman alive. Who knew the day she met Cord Triggert, her life would become one big love affair?

A bonus scene to the
Dresdan Coven
series

Elaina swung her gaze from left to right, ready with dagger clutched in fist just in case another rogue charged her.

Her heart thumped wildly. “Where the fuck did they come from?” she asked.

She already knew the answer to that. The vampire rogues had come from out of nowhere. She and Vicq hadn’t made detection until the very last minute when they attacked full force and with haste. It was as if the things were out to murder and desecrate, but was this a spontaneous attack or were they deliberately targeted?

Vicq looked to the right of them at the forest where most of the vapor had gone after what was left of the rogues dematerialized and disappeared.

“They didn’t trail us here. I would’ve felt it while we were traveling. They were waiting in the forests,” he panted through fangs that hadn’t drawn back just yet.

His chest heaved up and down as he tried to dispel his aggression. His clothes were torn and tattered from the struggles. Elaina could sense by the hint of strong male pheromones in the air that his slow, meditated breathing wasn’t doing him any good or suppressing his anger.

Elaina wasn’t as strong as a vampire. After all, she was still human and this was the precise reason why D5 trackers always worked as a team. They never knew if they were going to encounter a dozen rogues or one lone powerful Dresdan. In this case, since there had been more than one rogue, Vicq fought the hardest during the attack to defend them both.

As a trained fighter herself, Elaina had gotten in a few stabs. She had weakened the creatures right before Vicq delivered each deathblow. Thus, they worked as a team. Even though they stood undefeated, nearly half of the rogues had gotten away.

Elaina’s skin prickled and blood still raged through every inch of her. She gnawed at her bottom lip and then looked out at the warehouse in front of them. It was dark outside, and not one of the half a dozen street lamps was operational.

She took a moment to concentrate and tune in with her surroundings, using her sense of hearing the most. Her talents weren’t as strong as Vicq’s, and all she picked up were the sounds of the distant winds and the smell of putrid smoke from the paper mill to the left of them.
