But Lincoln didn’t deserve to be there. Ardhi had done the right thing, and the powers that be had blessed him in return and sent him a sign: He was the rightful king, and he belonged at Ivyanne’s side. Soon enough, she’d know that. They all would.

Curiously mesmerised by Adele’s vulnerability, Ardhi leaned in and brushed his lips against her dry ones, picturing Ivyanne’s face, and the look that would be on it when she realized that fate had marked her for
him, and him alone.
